Madrid Aula Digital’, the first platform to train Madrid residents in digital disciplines

  • The project, which began in 2024, will expand the training of Madrid residents in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, office automation, design and programming, among other subjects.
  • “It is an exciting project that is born with the ambition of becoming the great training center of the region,” says Miguel Lopez-Valverde Argüeso, Digitalization Advisor of the Community of Madrid.
  • ODILO, a Spanish edtech company from Cartagena, is the provider of this service that can be enjoyed free of charge throughout the Community of Madrid.

Madrid, July 16th, 2024 With the aim of accelerating citizen training in digital skills, the Community of Madrid (CAM) has launched Madrid Aula Digital‘, a project that aims to train more than 78,000 Madrid citizens between 2024 and 2025 completely free of charge in various technological skills such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, office automation, design or programming, which will be taught in online, classroom or mixed modalities.

According to Miguel López-Valverde Argüeso, Councilor for Digitalization of the Community of Madrid, “it is an exciting project that we have been working on for a long time. Madrid Aula Digital was born to become the region’s great training center. It is a great step forward in the strategy of the Community of Madrid”.

The initiative aims at the entire population, from students to professionals who want to strengthen their skills or reorient their careers. Special attention is given to citizens in rural areas, the over 55s, people with disabilities, or those at risk of employment. “The digital divide cannot be closed only from the cloud,” says Ignacio Azorín, Director General of Digital Strategy of the Community of Madrid.

To develop this platform, the CAM has relied on ODILO, a Spanish edtech that allows all organizations and institutions to create their own Unlimited Learning Ecosystem. Thus, through this alliance, the Cartagena-based firm has implemented its innovative solution in the platform promoted by the Community of Madrid to train citizens in technological skills and thus reduce the digital divide currently existing in the region.

In the words of Rodrigo Rodriguez, CEO of ODILO, “we are privileged to participate as a fundamental part of a project that will change the lives of thousands of citizens. Through Madrid Aula Digital, we have provided a personalized educational platform that integrates diversified and accessible learning resources with a support community formed by professionals who supervise and enhance the learning experience”.

In addition to the platform, the company will be in charge of dynamizing and taking ‘Madrid Aula Digital‘ to the different geographical areas of the Community of Madrid, tutoring, and physical and digital training, among other things. This is a step forward that reinforces its commitment to streamlining the training system and making it more accessible, intuitive, understandable, and fully customized.

Within this framework, at the National Congress on Innovation and Public Services (CNIS), an event that brought together more than a thousand attendees interested in deepening public sector innovation, Ignacio Azorín, together with Rodrigo Rodríguez, led the presentation entitled “Madrid Aula Digital: Launch of the digital citizen training program of the Community of Madrid”, to present this project and promote the use of this tool that the Department of the Community of Madrid has implemented to encourage digitization and improve digital skills among citizens.

It should be noted that any citizen of the CAM can use Madrid Aula Digital and access more than 150 free courses online, in the classroom, and through blended modalities. Advanced technological tools are divided into primary, intermediate, and advanced levels, and a support community is formed by professionals who will enhance the learning experience.
